As the sun rose over the crest of distant hills, a magic moment became an instant fond memory.
Light bouncing off the land below, shining and reflecting, it highlighted the soft mist floating over our very wet, green land. With smiles all round, there was an electricity of warmth felt in all of us.
My family had forgiven me for the early morning start and frost bite on their cold noses… no words were needed, it had all been worth it.
Micro Magic had been created and it was so simple and beautiful.
This morning I surprised my family with a much earlier rise than our usual slow, sloth Sundays. “Sorry” my beautiful teenager and snuggly ‘threenager,’ “it’s time to get up… and you too hubby”! There were moans and groans. The only warning was the night before where I asked them to set out some warm clothes for the next day… They had no idea of the early morning ambush I had planned.
The night before, I’d loaded the back of the car with warm, snuggly blankets and loads of cushions to create the ultimate barrier against the cold winter’s morning which awaited.
Of course – no early morning with the family is complete without caffeine and hotcakes, so we drove through ‘Maccas’ for a breakfast treat. My gorgeous fam-bam still had no idea where we were headed – it was still dark, only a hint of light beckoned this brand new day.
The initial surprise brought with it yelps and cries of how cold it was on top of Willans Hill… I don’t think any of them wanted to get out of the car. I didn’t let their lack of enthusiasm dampen the adventurous spirit and excitement I felt. I wanted to craft and share a unique morning with my family.
I call this micro magic… why? As the saying goes: “It’s the little things that count.” This morning’s adventure to watch the sun rise was such a simple and easy pursuit, yet the simplicity reaped macro reward.
It sure is the little [or micro] things that count. They are the moments that are up for the taking in every day life.
Micro Magic is what I call it and it is so easy to apply. In actual fact, generally you don’t have to apply anything. The little things happen… Every. Single. Day. We just have to ensure that our eyes are open to these moments.
I hope you all have had a beautiful Sunday. Did you experience any magic? Feel free to comment and share. I love hearing stories of happiness or unexpected magic from the simplicity of life – happiness inspires.
P.S. Don’t let the little things pass you by – micro magic is always up for the taking.
