Getting a little excited…

Yayyyy, yayyy, yayyyy!! Things are coming together and tomorrow I am having a photo shoot for my ‘coming soon’ business. Props ready, outfits ready… I think?! I’ve had some beautiful friends who have helped me prepare for my upcoming launch through their own creative talents and businesses – there are some pretty savvy and fabulous gals in this town. Not to mention support in general from some great friends and some new friends.

Deciding to start a business is something that I have thought about for quite some time. Then… one day, the penny dropped and I just thought…. YES! Now is the time.

I’ve been working on my business start-up and development for months now, not a day goes by that I don’t have small moments of doubt… momentarily that is… then I suck it up and realise that nothing comes easy and nothing propels you forward more than a little fear or discomfort. Push those boundaries peeps! Believe!

My experience with business thus far… has come from two facets. Firstly, when I worked in risk management (wealth protection) in the financial planning industry. I would write personal and business insurances for my clients, to ensure their future financial stability in the event of an unforeseen incident (death, disablement, pro-longed illness etc). This gave me great insight into how various businesses and industries operated and how hard and meticulously they worked for their success. It was a job in which I was extremely passionate, as I had to understand their structures and set-up in order to strategise their financial protection plan.

My other familiarity lies with my husband’s family business. I often get asked if I work in the business, hell no, I don’t work with my husband [insert laughter], however, I absolutely indirectly work in the business… I know there are a lot of you out there that listen to your husband or wife or partner at the end of the business day, you talk through strategies, plans and development etc. You become a sounding board and an opinion provider. So on the back of this perspective, I am very much looking forward to the challenge and joys that will come with running my own business (albeit a sole trader).

So only a few words from me tonight to tell you that I’ve been extremely busy and to say thank you for reading my blog… I absolutely love writing and my ambition through my blog (which I will soon give a name) is to provide a healthy perspective on life, empower gratitude, raise awareness for young breast cancer and provoke thoughts of positive change.

Stay tuned… Nighty Night

Bec x

P.S. I’ve got three weeks off my study coming up [thank goodness], so I plan to overhaul my website and launch my business in that time (fingers crossed)!!!!
